How to use “Fixed-route bus”

There are two ways to board the bus. Let's explore Japan in depth by first learning the system of local bus!

A: Front-door boarding: “Getting on”

A: Front-door boarding: “Getting on”
Board the bus from the front door, and pay the fare when boarding.
Please put the cash into the fare collection box, or touch the IC card reader with your IC card.

※Getting a change is possible, but in most cases it is limited to coins and 1000yen bills only, so the process may take some time. It is best to change and prepare the amount of money needed before boarding to aviod the trouble.

When your hear an announcement of the bus stop at which you wish to exit, press the notification signal button. When the bus stops, get off through the rear door.
 

B: Rear-door boarding: “Getting on”

B: Rear-door boarding: “Getting on”
Board the bus from the rear door. If you pay by cash, take a “Numbered Ticket” from the machine near the bus entrance. If you pay by IC card, touch the reader with your card (Numbered Ticket is not needed).

When your hear an announcement of the bus stop at which you wish to exit, press the notification signal button. Check the fare table located above the driver's seat for the same number as that printed on your numbered ticket. Pay the amount indicated in the frame. Get off through the front door when the bus stops, and put the fare into the fare collection box at the side of the driver's seat. If you use a IC card, touch the reader with your card.
